How to use two accounts at once in one browser

A site remembers you with cookies, and a browser normally shares one set of cookies everywhere, so one account signs out the other. The fix is to keep each account's cookies apart. In Tern, that's what a Space does.

Two accounts with two Spaces

  1. 1

    Make a Space for each

Press ⇧⌘N or click New Space at the bottom of the sidebar. Name one Work and one Personal, say.
  2. 2

    Sign in once in each

Open the site in the Work Space and sign in with your work account. Then do the same in Personal with your own.
  3. 3

    Switch with ⌘1 and ⌘2

Each Space keeps its own sign-in, so switching is instant and nobody gets signed out.

What a Space keeps apart

Cookies and sign-ins
Never cross from one Space to another.
Tabs and pinned tabs
Each Space has its own, so work tabs never mix with personal ones.
The agent
Each Space has its own agent, which only sees that Space's tabs.
Links from other apps
Settings › General › Open links in chooses which Space they land in, so a work link opens where you are signed in to work.

For a quick second account

A private window
Press ⇧⌘P and sign in there. It keeps its own cookies and forgets them when you close it: good for checking a client's account once without a Space for it.

Questions

How many Spaces can I have?
As many as you like. ⌘1 to ⌘9 switch between the first nine.
Do my Spaces sync to my other Mac?
Their names, pinned tabs and folders do, through iCloud. Sign-ins stay on each Mac, so you sign in once on each.
Deleting a Space, what happens to its sign-ins?
They are deleted with it, along with its cookies and website data.
